for gore and horror Higurashi no naku koro ni is nice..but the manga only because it's like series of higurashi no naku koro ni series and the anime is just one occasion..

Hirugashi is a good one.......

a good manga but it's kinda..very horror...i recently read about the little girl with the dead parents and the "good" orphanage etc etc...actually it's the only one of higurashi i've ever read but it has done the trick :D
