Is the anime different from the manga??

Yes, majorly. For instance, the manga has not ended, and has introduced whole new plot arcs. The anime went off on a totally seperate tangent.

Why are there so much differences?

I'm not really sure. My guess is that the company wanted to end the anime rather than have it continue forever, so they added their own ideas to the end so that it could have an ending.

However, now that they're making a season 2, I'm not so sure what the point was....

At many animes the do changes [for example 07-ghost , Full moon etc]. I think it's a bit silly...

Well, yeah, in some cases there really is no point in making the anime different from the manga (or vice versa). Of course, maybe the line of thinking is, who wants to watch the same story twice?

If they don't want the same story twice don't read the manga or don't watch the anime.

Exactly. But some people just like to see the characters they love so much animated and given voices.

They cannot expect a different story in the screen...
