What is soul eater?

I have seen it alot and I found out that I had a motivational poster of it, I can't exactly see if it's serious or funny. The title sounds serious but all the pics I have seen are funny.

So what is soul eater? (I don't mind spoilers, especilly about dying characters)

It is an anime (51 episodes). Set at the "Death Weapon Meister Academy," the series revolves around three teams consisting of a weapon meister and (at least one) human weapon. Trying to make the latter a "Death Scythe" and thus fit for use by the academy's headmaster, Shinigami, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and one witch, in that order or they will have to restart all over again.

Is it serious? (sounds good)

I haven't seen it but I have heard that it's good... these are only rumors though so I cannot be sure since I haven't seen this myself.

I dunno, if anyone else here knows what is like in terms of seriousness I;d be interested because sites like wikipedia and absolute anime don't give that type of information.

Ohhh, I love Soul Eater! I haven't seen alot of the anime, but I do read the manga. And it is serious at times, but it does have comedy in it. and the comedy is pretty good, in all honesty. So it can be serious when they are fighting and stuff, but in-between missions and stuff it can get a little goofy, but a good goofy :) So if you are looking for a super super serious as if the world was going to end serious anime/manga then you might not like that much. Watch a few episodes online (or read the first pilot chapter) to see if you like it, thats the best advice I can give.

Also the first 3 episodes are pilots, to introduce the characters.
