PostSubject: Go Comi! bankrupt   Thu 27 May - 19:14

Since January I have been searching to find 07 Ghost volumes 4-7. Amazon says that there aren't any copies left.

Today while I was searching for some websites to advertise I found a webpage in which it was written that Go Comi! doesn't exist any more. They have shut down their website and they have fired their employees... Does anyone know anything?

I posted a thread about this here.

Yep, Go! Comi is pretty much shutting down. I've also read that some of the remaining books were being raffled via Twitter. CMX is also closing its doors. A sad day for the industry.

Oh I am really sorry for posting this since it has alerady been posted. Do you know the reasons... Is it just the economical crisis?

No, it's okay. Yep, I think the reason both CMX and Go! Comi are shutting down is because of the economy. I've read some people's speculation as to what the reasons were and the most common thought is that neither company had a 'big title'. For example, Viz can publish a lot of niche titles, like Otomen, because they have such popular series under their line: Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Vampire Knight, Ouran High School Host Club, etc.

Apparently, neither Go! Comi nor CMX had really popular titles. CMX published a lot of niche older shoujo manga that never had a big audience and apparently Go! Comi's biggest title was 07-Ghost. So, unfortunately, they were never able to reach out to a bigger market and are shutting down.
