| The worst character for me was Tohru Honda herself.
I don't like the fact that she is looked upon as the Sohma's savior. All the other characters were fine to me (I did take a liking to Yuki and Shigure though), but Tohru annoyed me.
She reminds me a bit of Sakura from Naruto | |

It still holds it's place as the #1 shojo manga in the Americas and has won countless awards back in Asia. | |

The Fruits Basket manga received the 2001 Kodansha Manga Award in the shōjo manga category and the "Best Manga" award at the 2007 American Anime Awards. In 2001, the Fruits Basket anime won a Animage Anime Grand Prix award.

| For all the awards it has won, I thought the Fruits Basket series was average. It didn't strike me as astoundingly spectacular, because I can think of better shoujo off of the top of my head. The manga itself seems stretched too long, I like the length and abrupt end of the anime more.
Plus, it seems as the artist of Fruits Basket draws newer stuff, her art gets uglier. I much prefer the art of the first few volumes to the art of the last few. | |
